Common Uses –It has astringent, digestive, anti-poisonous, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, and anthelmintic activity. It is used as an appetizer, a brain and cardiotonic, and to cure fever, itching, nausea, leprosy, skin disorders, erysipelas, bleeding piles, metrorrhagia, menorrhagia, leucorrhoea, excessive thirst, and sweating. The flowers are astringent, bitter, acrid, mildly heating, digestive, carminative, constipating, anthelmintic, diuretic, alexipharmic, expectorant, stomachic, hemostatic, aphrodisiac, and febrifuge. They are useful in asthma, cough, hiccough, leprosy, scabies, skin diseases, pruritus, vomiting, dysentery, hemorrhoids, ulcers, burning sensation of feet, impotency, anorexia, leucorrhoea, hemoptysis, fever, and cardiac debility. Seed oil is used in skin diseases. The pericarp of the fruit is astringent and stomachic. Externally, the seed oil is an analgesic; it is used in inflammatory arthritis.
Indications – Its paste is applied externally or its oil is used externally in skin disorders, discoloration, and wounds. It is used internally in morbid thirst, burning sensation, loss of taste, vomiting, bleeding hemorrhoids, diarrhea with blood, gout, herpes, itching, metrorrhagia, menorrhagia, and miscarriage.
